Oklahoma trip

I had a most wonderful time in Oklahoma with my sister (and Eric too) and sweet baby Piper! There is definitely a type of bond between sisters that can't be explained!! One of our strange oddities is our "pondering pictures". Not quite sure how this all began. I think it was when we were in high school/early college and mom was trying to get a picture of us for a Christmas card. We both felt that the way she was trying to pose us was very cheesy so....we behaved like 3 year olds while poor mom was trying to get the picture. One of our favorite mischievous poses was ....pondering!! Since that time, we have pondered the smallest of things, to the greatest of life events. We have pondering pictures of us at holidays, graduations, weddings and, of course, the birth of all of our children! Now pondering pictures have become such a crazy tradition that it must be done often. I don't really remember why we do it...it's just something we've always done!! :)

It was sad to leave...and hard to leave...literally! In the past 6 months, I've made two road trips to Oklahoma by myself (something I hadn't done since early in our marriage). The first was the day after Christmas for my best friend from college's wedding. I almost didn't make it to the wedding because they had a blizzard with record snowfall.... 10-15 inches! Crazy! I drove on snow packed roads for the majority of the trip. I lost count of all the cars I saw on the side of the road. This time it was record rainfall! Up to 10 inches in places. There was flash flooding everywhere! I almost had to delay my trip another day because parts roads and interstates were shut down. Once again, I lost count of the number of cars off the side of the road! I have a feeling I won't be traveling to Oklahoma by myself for a while!! :)

For any of you wondering how our grass is doing.... It's out of control! We cut the grass a week ago today, and when I got home yesterday...it was a jungle out there! Apparently, it was insanely hot while I was gone. and Mark watered the grass like crazy! It looks amazing... we just might lower the blade on the mower a little bit next time!

Here are some more sweet pictures of a super sweet niece!!
